The Moray Way.

The Moray Way is Moray’s unique long-distance circular route, which follows the Moray Firth coast, crosses over moorland and tracks the river Spey. The Moray Way combines the whole of The Dava Way, two-thirds of The Moray Coast Trail and approximately half of The Speyside Way creating a loop of a 100 miles (160 km)

Fastest Known time. (FKT)

🚴‍♂️ It’s official — the benchmark is set! 🚴‍♀️

This is something Mark has talked of for years, and now the first Fastest Known Time (FKT) is on the board. Which means only one thing… it’s there to be smashed!

Think you’ve got what it takes? Here’s how to join the challenge:

  1. Follow the route using the official GPX file (we can send it if needed).

  2. Go fully self-supported — carry everything you need, no outside help.

  3. Send us your proof (Strava, Garmin, etc.) to info@moraygravelcollective.com for verification.

✅ Once your ride is checked, you’ll earn a place on the official leaderboard, with separate male and female categories.

The route is set. The bar is high.
Who’s stepping up next?

TERRAIN.

The landscape along the route has many opportunities for great expansive views. The surface types that make up the route range from sandy dunes to minor roads. There are stiles, gates and short flights of steps along the route keeping you on your toes, however a majority of the route is fast flowing ways. We have refined the route what is perfectly suited for a gravel bike or fast rolling XC bike.

When taking on an FKT attempt, please follow all local traffic laws and respect wildlife, pedestrians, pets, and the environment. Anyone found breaking these rules may be removed from the leaderboard. This is all about having fun — let’s keep it that way!

Viaduct collapse!

*THE Moray Way fkt Route Update*

Many of you will already be aware of the sad news that the beloved Spey Viaduct has collapsed. This historic and much-cherished focal point of the route has fallen into the River Spey, marking the loss of a significant local landmark.

Following the collapse of the old railway viaduct crossing between Garmouth and Spey Bay, the route is currently closed to ensure public safety while assessments and remedial works are undertaken.

As a result of this closure the route no longer crosses the viaduct and has been temporarily re-routed via the Old Red Kirk Rd. Riders must ensure they follow the updated GPX route when planning and undertaking The Moray Way.
